Low mass ratio vortex-induced motion
Web9 okt. 2024 · The flow past a 2D circular cylinder with control rods is numerically simulated in the present paper. The suppression effects of the control rods on the vortex-induced vibration (VIV) characteristics of the cylinder are investigated using the overlapping grid method and user defined function. By setting the cylinder’s vibration amplitude and drag … Web6 mei 2024 · In this two-dimensional numerical study, vortex-induced vibration of a circular cylinder is analyzed using an in-house code. Mass ratios of m^*=2 and 10 are investigated at Reynolds number \mathrm {Re}=100. For both m^* values a single excitation region is identified with a peak amplitude value of 0.22\% of the cylinder diameter.

Webtion, on the vortex-induced vibration (VIV) and galloping responses. Simu-lations are conducted for aspect ratios of 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 1 and 1.25 and reduced velocities ranging from 1 to 30. Distinct VIV lock-in and galloping regimes are found for all the aspect ratios except α=0.3, for which only VIV lock-in is found. Web24 feb. 2024 · The classical resonance branches that construct the response of a freely vibrating circular or elliptic cylinder at low Reynolds numbers, Re, are “initial” and “lower.”The existence of additional response branches, if any at low Re via alteration of controlling parameters, is unavailable in the literature. In this computational work, relating …
Web12 okt. 2024 · The vortex-induced force of bridges is not synchronized along the span direction. The spatial correlation of vortex-induced force becomes obvious when the span of the bridge structure gradually increases, and the mass gradually decreases. Therefore, it is important to study the spanwise correlation of vortex-induced forces of long-span …
Web7 apr. 2024 · Adjusting the inlet velocity and the overflow split ratio changes the mechanical response of the structure. The results of a modal analysis show that the structural vibration response is consistent with the response state of the lowest point of the internal central-vortex pressure and that both are in approximate circular motion. dagenham and redbridge fc companies houseWebThe vortex-induced motion of floating structures is strongly influenced by their low mass ratios (i.e. the ratio of structural to displaced fluid mass).
