WebBack in 1848, the Ramsdens had bought Greenhead Hall and its estate — which could be traced back to 1600 — along with neighbouring Gledholt. The Ramsden estate was newly enriched by the sale of land for the railway and busily acquiring property as it came on the market, with an eye to profitable development opportunities in the expanding town.
